This year I am helping my good friend with her annual fundraiser for childhood cancer. Every year she hosts a lemonade stand through the Alex's Lemonade Stand foundation. This year she is kicking the year off with an online fundraiser and one lucky person will win a $50 gift card for the cheese cake factory (omg its SO good!) that has been donated by her mother.
We are also going to be doing a golf Tournament in the spring/summer then the lemonade stand for the lemonade days.
My godson Antonio was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2004 when he was 2 years old. He went through 18 months of intense treatment that included chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries and a stem cell transplant. He has currently been in remission for 6 years. I thank god every day for his life. He brings such joy to everyone around him. For more info on Antonio you can visit his website here
- Childhood cancers are the #1 disease killer of children - more than asthma, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and pediatric AIDS combined
- On the average, 1 in every 4 elementary school has a child with cancer. The average high school has two students who are a current or former cancer patient. In the U.S., about 46 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer every weekday
- Cancer in childhood occurs regularly, randomly, and spares no ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region
